Keep the claim attached to the exact item

Eco-Products describes EP-ST770 as BPI-certified compostable and references ASTM D6400. The site attributes those statements to the current maker page; it has not independently audited the present certificate registry for the exact received lot. A claim about this selected straw does not become a claim about the two selected PET lids, their packaging or every component of a finished drink order. Keep the exact item separate in the waste-planning record.

Do not substitute backyard conditions

EPA identifies compostable foodservice ware among materials to avoid adding to a typical backyard pile and explains that commercial facilities should be checked for acceptance. Commercial compostability is therefore not a backyard performance guarantee. Rim Supply does not give a home-composting recipe or predict how long this straw will take to disappear. No decomposition experiment or facility trial was conducted for this site.

Ask the actual collector about the exact item

A cafe needs a collection route that reaches an accepting facility. Ask the hauler or facility whether EP-ST770, its wrapper and any other actual service components are accepted, and what sorting conditions apply. A bin color, resin abbreviation or a supplier’s broad environmental statement does not answer that operational question. If local acceptance is not confirmed, the website keeps it unknown rather than labelling the purchase as successfully diverted from disposal.

Keep staff instructions within the confirmed route

If the facility accepts only certain certified products or requires a specific collection stream, retain those instructions with the procurement record. Do not apply the straw’s attributed claim to a PET lid or to an unidentified accessory placed in the same bin. This site supplies no universal disposal symbol and no local legal determination. Independent material, certification-scope and content review remain pending before any final release or operational claim.

Keep material and collection as different fields

The two selected lids are identified as PET on their current product pages. That is a useful material fact, but it does not establish that a particular cafe’s collector accepts these exact lids. Rim Supply has not verified a local collection program, a sorting rule or a destination facility for the operator. It therefore does not label the selected order as locally recyclable from the resin name alone.

Do not transfer the straw’s compostability claim

The selected PLA straw has maker-attributed commercial compostability language. The selected PET lids do not inherit that claim because all three products are cafe accessories. Similarly, a supplier selling recycled-content and conventional product lines does not make every clear lid a recycled-content item. A procurement note should name the actual material and any verified claim for the selected SKU, rather than combining the most favorable statements from several different families.

Keep each waste component named

An order may include a PLA straw, its wrapper, a PET lid and a separate cup. Even when the straw carries the attributed commercial-compostability claim, those other items need their own applicable information. Ask the collection program about the actual components rather than describing the whole order as compostable packaging. The website has not verified a local route and does not place the same disposal label on all supplies in the comparison.
